Life on the Rails and in the Slums 9/30

During our time here we have found that one of the older boys is now employed and has a 1 room flat he shares with some of the other boys.  Many of the younger boys have day labor work but still live on the tracks and around the station.  P has told us that they will often be hired on by hotels in the south of India during the tourist season.  They will make money, but do not hold on to it long, they do not have good money handleing skills yet.  As they are learning life skills at the center, one of the things they have asked P to to help with is a banking system.  They boys entrust their money to one of P's associates and he holds the money for them. Please understand that this is a great step of trust they have taken. When they need money they as R for what they need and he gives it to them.  Amazing step for these boys.

Life is hard here.  Michelle fixed an amazing 1st aid kit and we have been very thankful that she included so many items in it.  When the boys found out that we had a kit, they started to come with their complaints.. some minor wounds, scratches and blisters to serious infections.  One young man (@17 or 18yrs old) presented with a monkey bite that was mostly healed from the outside but it was obvious that there was infection under the skin and was cyst. However his main complaint was not his wrist but is heel.  His heal was raw and layers of skin were missing.  Through our interpreter we found out that his heal had been chewed on during the night by rats.  The young man was taken to a doctor later to receive a tetanus and rabies shot.

We have had a blessed time working with the children of both locations (MS and RN slum).  The Holy Spirit has been moving among these children.  At the pink house Julia was able to speak with a young girl that has already at the tender age of about 15 been sold in to marrage and recovered by P&G, kidnapped and rescued by P&G and abused by her mother and at the hands of men.  She still has healng that needs to take place but because of the work here she has a realationship with our Lord.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit she told Julia that she has been able to forgive her abusers and her mother  who played a part in her trials.

Seed were planted at the MS center on 9/29 when we taught about God being the one and only God.  One young man asked why he should worship any god.  You see, both his parents were killed and his brother abuses him and wants to take the land that was left to them for himself.  The Holy Spirit was present and moving.  A couple of our team were able to speak with him 1 on 1 through interpreters and he made a profession of faith.

After someone makes a profession of faith comes the hard work of discipleship.  Please pray for these children that they would recognize the truth of what they are taught by these precious workers here.  Please pray for a radical movemnet of the Holy Spirit in this country.

Until later.....
